What do we mean by “More Than
Sport Skills?”

Athletes spend hours training their bodies and developing their strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, and sport specific skills. However, athletes often forget about the mental aspect of sport, the opportunity to develop mental toughness, confidence, motivation, leadership, and life skills. We at More Than Sport Skills offer programming, training, curriculum design, and individual or team resources to improve the mental game, in order to develop a well rounded athlete experience.

Youth sport can be a great way to develop life skills for young athletes, however intentional, purposeful strategies should be included. This is especially important for young girls, who often don’t have the needed exposure and experience to sport that they should. Leadership skills are vital to the performance and success of sports teams. However, many programs do not have the formal training and support required to develop these skills in their student-athlete leaders. Success Stories

"This leadership course allowed our student athletes to take more of a hands-on approach when it comes to leadership.  The fact that the course was a small group, some in class lecture, some out of class implementation, allowed our students to not just talk about what leadership is, but to put it in action.  From the students I spoke to in that class, the only downside was that it wasn't a full semester long.  I truly feel that this course has already made a significant impact in only its first semester."
